Appointed Treasurer and Director of KeepOut in early 2008, James is keen to see the scheme’s success at HMP Coldingley, HMP Lewes and HMP Send replicated in other prisons. “I want to help young people who have not had the opportunities that my teenage children enjoy, and I am delighted that we will be expanding the model to another county at HMP Lewes this year.”
On leaving university, James became a scientist developing fibre reinforced composite materials for BP and the MOD. He obtained an MBA from Cranfield School of Management to help commercialise the composite technology being developed. Moving to Japan in 2001, he spent five years supporting his wife and young family living in Kobe and Tokyo. Returning to the UK, he is now a consultant assisting the commercial application of materials technology.
